Our Hearts are broken.

We had such a tragedy Sunday morning. Eduardo and I were up early to go work on the house and I heard Niki's horses take off running (nothing unusual) then you hear a loud bang. Thinking they ran into the tin on the side of the creek? So I went over to see what happen and make sure it wasn't anything bad and that Niki was up. We looked over and Evie was under the gooseneck of the horse trailer. That means trouble after looking at her she had blood on her head Niki lifted up her forelock and could see her skull. Hopeing for the best we knew the vet needed to come out and stich it up. Not thinking the worst that her skull could be fractured we tried not to think that way. The vet finally made it out and sedated her so we could examine her. IT WAS THE WORST she had factured her skull. There was a huge hole, she was going into shock we had to make the decision to put her down. Freak Accident how could something so simple end so tragic? Evie was the only horse born on the property. Sure she was mean but we still loved her. Sure you could never turn your back on her but she was Evie! Sure she hated men because Niki and me were the only ones who handled her. We could forgive her for it all because she had her moments. After the grass dried a bit you could see the skid marks where she tried to stop but because of the damp grass and wet ground and the speed she was running she couldn't stop so she hit the disk on the gooseneck and must of fell under the trailer. It is heart breaking she was going to be 11 in August..the other worst is last year on the 24th of April we had to put Red down because of his old age :( We will miss you Evie.
